Product Description

TotalBoat AlumiPaint AF copper-free antifouling paint applied by brush to the bottom of a RIB.TotalBoat AlumiPaint AF copper-free antifouling paint applied by brush to the bottom of a RIB.

Copper-Free Antifouling Paint Gives Aluminum & Pontoon Boats Powerful Protection Against Barnacles & Slime.

This season, rely on TotalBoat AlumiPaint AF to maintain the integrity and cruising speed of your aluminum boat or pontoon boat. Its copper-free formula contains a potent pairing of concentrated organic biocide and zinc that’s safer for delicate marine ecosystems, and ideal for areas that restrict the use of copper-based bottom paints. Because it doesn’t contain copper, it won’t cause galvanic corrosion, making it safe for all aluminum surfaces & underwater metals, such as outdrives & running gear.

TotalBoat AlumiPaint AF GallonTotalBoat AlumiPaint AF Gallon

TotalBoat AlumiPaint AF ablative antifouling paint is safe for aluminum surfaces, and safer for marine environments.

Formulated specifically for aluminum and pontoon boats, AlumiPaint AF is the choice of DIY boat owners and professionals.

If you keep your aluminum boat in salt or brackish waters, it needs an antifouling paint to keep barnacles, weeds & other marine fouling organisms from clinging to the bottom. But, applying copper-based biocide directly to an aluminum hull or pontoons causes a severe chemical reaction called galvanic corrosion, where the aluminum disintegrates into a white powdery substance, aluminum oxide powder. You won’t get barnacles, but you’ll destroy the bottom of your boat. TotalBoat AlumiPaint AF contains a different kind of antifouling agent. It’s a potent, copper-free organic biocide that repels hard marine fouling, such as barnacles & zebra mussels. Copper-free biocide is safe for aluminum hulls, aluminum pontoons, and underwater metal parts on submerged running gear, such as outdrives & trim tabs. It’s also very effective in low concentrations, and is better for marine environments because it’s biodegradable, breaking down quickly as it’s released into the water.

Excellent full-season protection in salt and brackish waters.

TotalBoat AlumiPaint AF wears away gradually as water flows under the hull. It releases fresh layers of biocide at a controlled rate to provide full-season protection in salt water where the water flow is unrestricted. Proper preparation and priming of bare aluminum is critical for performance and corrosion prevention.

TotalBoat Customers Get Great Results

Boat is docked in saltwater lagoon when at rest which normally has junk that just sticks and grows all over bottom within 2 weeks but almost nothing grew on it.” – BKNJ17 via Amazon Reviews”Product arrived with no damage. It applied well over the aluminum boat. Looks great! Will recommend and use again.” – Randy E. via Amazon Reviews

Three Simple Steps to Make TotalBoat AlumiPaint AF Stick to Bare Aluminum

Scuffing bare aluminum with a maroon abrasive pad before etching.Scuffing bare aluminum with a maroon abrasive pad before etching.

Clean the aluminum surface.

If you’re painting bare aluminum, you need to use the right primer and follow the right process, or no paint will stick. For best results, we recommended the following process:

Clean the surface to remove loose dirt.Sand with 220-grit sandpaper or an abrasive pad, or blast to bright, shiny metal.Remove residue.

Apply an aluminum-safe barrier coat within 1 hour of sanding prep.

Bare aluminum and other metals will begin oxidizing immediately after sanding prep, so the barrier coat must be applied within 1 hour after sanding/blasting.

Apply 2-3 coats of TotalBoat Aluminum Boat Barrier Coat, waiting 2 -6 hours, depending on temperature. To prime properly prepared steel and iron surfaces, use TotalBoat TotalProtect Epoxy Barrier Coat Primer, as directed.

Apply TotalBoat AlumiPaint AF over barrier coat.

For proper adhesion, it’s important to apply the first coat of AlumiPaint AF within 3-6 hours of applying the final coat of TotalBoat Aluminum Boat Barrier Coat.

Shake or stir AlumiPaint AF thoroughly.Apply by brush, roller, or spray gun. We recommend a 3/16″ nap or foam solvent-safe roller cover.Apply 1-2 coats, waiting 1-4 hours between coats. Two coats are recommended for application over bare substrates, around the waterline, and any areas with increased wear.Allow paint to dry 2-8 hours (depending on temperature) before launching the boat.

Purpose

Epoxy adhesive with excellent flexibility, sag resistance, & sealing properties for quick, permanent repairs. Ideal for patching small holes and repairing or waterproofing leaky rivets and seams on aluminum boats or pontoons.

Surface prep treatment provides thorough surface cleaning, corrosion protection, and etching in a single application. Ensures that paint, epoxies, glues and other coatings stick to your aluminum boat better and last longer.

Creates a water-tight moisture barrier to protect aluminum hulls & pontoons from corrosion, fill small imperfections & ensure a solid foundation for antifouling paints or topside finishes.

Copper-free antifouling that combines an effective organic biocide with zinc for powerful, full-season protection on pontoons & aluminum, steel, & iron hulls.

Topside paint for aluminum boats and pontoon boats. Unique paint adheres strongly and can be applied directly to metal, without priming first.

Single season, copper-free antifouling paint for outdrives, trim tabs, and other underwater metals.

It all started simply enough. As boaters, we wanted better stuff for our own boats.

Even our favorite products, the ones we’d come to rely on, had room for improvement. It’d be nice if they could hold up longer, cure faster, coat better, apply easier, and—since we all know boat ownership creates a mini maelstrom in your pocket—cost less. So we took everything we knew from 35 years of customer feedback, combined that with our own boating knowledge, and after a few years of rigorous R&D, TotalBoat was born. Launched, rather. By boaters, for boaters.

Need help? The members of our TotalBoat Tech Team are boat owners who really know their stuff. So whether you’re trying to figure out what to buy or the best solution for your particular project, they have years of hands-on training, experience, and a passion to help you succeed.
