1 Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.5

The Cloak Tuck has won awards for its performance in the arenas of both concealment and comfort. Given these are probably the two most important aspects of a holster, Alien Gear has a solid product. The most recent iteration, however, further improves upon the original.

Their latest holster is enhanced with a stainless-steel spring core, enhancing the backbone and ensuring durability and retention of the gun. The use of neoprene rather than leather makes it much more durable. Is still has a very stylish, handsome leather look. Neoprene further introduces water resistance. Keeping your gun clean is important, and neoprene helps with that. The use of this material also means the base is flexible and doesn’t need to be broken in.

Speaking of materials, the so-called “Alien Skin,” as Alien Gear calls it, of the Cloak Tuck is a thermoplastic polymer surface. The use of this polymer further secures the Glock without distorting clothing or messing with the finish on your gun. It further enhances the strength of the holster and gives you a solid grip. It also further complements the handsome finish achieved by the neoprene. It is a genuinely good-looking holster that will get compliments; that is, whenever it’s not concealed, of course.

The main feature that promotes comfort is the use of spring steel. It adds reinforcement for a more stable holster and less flexibility. In return, your firearm won’t dig into you whenever you go to sit down

You can also adjust the retention shell. Larger inserts lessen retention while smaller inserts increase retention. This is a great feature. However, you will find that it needs some consistent use to feel fluid and “broken in.” Given how otherwise smooth and flawless operation is on this holster, this flaw really stands out.

Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.5
Our rating:4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

Pros
  • Mostly very “broken in” already
  • Waterproof neoprene material
  • Exceptional comfort
  • Does the job of concealment very well
Cons
  • You will need to consistently unholster your Glock before the retention shell operates smoothly

2 Cya Supply Co.

Cya Supply Co. is a small, veteran-owned business based in Texas. Their no-nonsense simplicity is immediately evident in their holsters, which eschew a fancy appearance or buzzwords (in fact, they haven’t even named their holsters; you simply buy the holster that corresponds to your gun). In exchange, they just make great holsters with everything you’d expect. A love of concealed carry is evident in the design of their holsters.

One seemingly minor, but extremely satisfying, feature is a very audible click when the gun has been securely holstered. This is not some accident of the mechanics. Rather, it has specifically been engineered to be loud. Compare this to other holsters that either make a noise passingly or make no sound at all. The reason this sound is satisfying is it assures you your Glock has been secured into place.

It is also a very rugged holster, made from Boltaron thermoplastic. This is a similar material to Kydex, but much stronger. Consequently, the holster has high abrasion, chemical, and heat resistance.

It’s also a fairly comfortable holster. The cant and retention are adjustable up to 15 degrees with the use of a Hex Allen Key. While it’s not innately self-adjustable, it’s a simple enough solution unless you tend to wear your holster in multiple positions or change position based on your outfit. In this event, adjustment might be a bit of a pain.

This is counter-balanced by the use of only one very strong clip. Some users even report using it in other placements, but we’d recommend a gun belt for that. Most other holsters utilize two clips, which can be annoying and lead to frustrating fumbling.

Lastly, this holster has an extremely low profile. Given the purpose is concealed carry, this is very important. It will be nearly impossible for others to spot your Glock regardless of what you’re wearing. This is invaluable in the summer months, when you’ll generally be wearing less, or at least thinner, clothing.

Cya Supply Co.
Our rating:4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

Pros
  • Very low profile
  • Satisfying audible click when secured
  • Single clip design
Cons
  • Requires Hex Allen key for adjustments

3 Crossbreed Holsters SuperTuck

Crossbreed produces minimalist holsters, which will appeal to a lot of people. That doesn’t mean it necessarily lacks the features of other brands. It does, however, try to parse those features down into a tiny, tuckable package. For the most part, it works well.

For one thing, it’s highly concealable. The minimal design choices have created a less bulky holster. This also makes it quite comfortable. Additionally, the base of the holster is a leather plate which absorbs the pressure of the gun, such that there is no one or two points where the gun pushes against your body. This is a simple design choice that worked quite well.

Unfortunately, the leather, while nice, cannot compare to some of the better materials on the market. There’s less flexibility, and like any leather, it’s durable, but not as durable as synthetic materials. However, it also does mean that it wears in comfortably like any leather, whereas some of the competition’s materials can be more stiff. Some synthetic materials retain their shape. Leather will contour to your use over time.

One noticeable complaint is that it can be difficult to get a firm grip when drawing your Glock. This is because it rests exceptionally tight against the leather plate. If this becomes a concern, it can always be shaved down. However, it would be nice if Crossbreed had taken this into consideration.

Also, while the belt clips are adjustable, overall you get what you get with this holster. It’s designed to work fairly universally without adjustments. It does this fairly well, but since there are some concerns, like being unable to get a solid grip, more adjustable features would be welcome.

Overall, this holster would be best for Glock owners who want something comfortable, low-profile, and don’t expect much in the way of customization. It’s fairly comfortable and usable from the get-go, so these decisions mostly work in Crossbreed’s favor.

Crossbreed Holsters SuperTuck
Our rating:4.4 out of 5 stars (4.4 / 5)

Pros
  • A simple holster designed to work right away
  • Very small profile
  • Good-sized base plate on a small holster
Cons
  • Fewer adjustable parts
  • Quality leather, but better materials are available

4 Concealment Express IWB Kydex

Concealment Express has one priority first and foremost: concealment. With an extremely small footprint, this holster gets right to the point of hiding your Glock. However, it also manages to incorporate a few other nice features, as well.

First, it should be stated that such a small holster may not be for everyone. Larger holsters will better distribute the pressure of your Glock pressing against you. That’s not the case here. However, if you are able to find a position that doesn’t bother you, that’s not a problem. It’s simply the cost of such a low profile. Of course, shoppers who prioritize comfort above all else will want to look elsewhere.

It is made of Kydex, which is pretty standard for the holsters we’re reviewing. It’s notable, however, because with the emphasis almost strictly on low profile, Concealment Express could have gone with leather. Kydex is a better, more durable choice. It’s also key with a holster that distributed pressure less evenly, as already noted. Leather would break down considerably faster with such a small design.

Surprisingly, it’s also a very adjustable holster for its size, as well. Concealment Express has provided an adjustable carrying angle. Cant can be adjusted from zero degrees up to 15. Tension is also adjustable, and there’s an audible click at any tension level. Best of all, these adjustments only require the use of a Phillip’s screwdriver. It can be tremendously irritating with other models that require a variety of specific tools. Requiring only a Phillip’s screwdriver means that you can make quick on-the-fly adjustments nearly anywhere without digging for a more specific tool.

All in all, Concealment Express has crafted a holster that manages to check all the boxes of an excellent holster. But, of course, since it excels in having an incredibly small profile, that will automatically disqualify it for many. But if comfort is not your top concern, and you value both a low profile and a range of features, this holster should definitely be a serious consideration.

Concealment Express IWB Kydex
Our rating:4.7 out of 5 stars (4.7 / 5)

Pros
  • Very low profile for optimum concealment
  • Very adjustable
  • Requires only Phillip’s screwdriver for adjustments
  • Loud securement click
Cons
  • Small size won’t be for everyone, particularly users who prioritize comfort

5 Tulster Glock IWP Profile Holster

Tulster’s offering is best described as nearly exactly the same as Concealment Express’s holster, but with some additional bonuses. We’ll get to those in a second. First, it’s worth noting a major drawback: the lack of a warranty. Most holster manufacturers, understanding the importance of a holster to a gun owner, provide a warranty. Not only that, but most are unconditional and for life. That makes investing in Tulster, for some, a non-starter. Of course, depending on where the holster is purchased, a vendor-issued warranty may be available. However, those are often for a matter of years rather than life. It also introduces an additional expense.

Those who don’t mind the lack of a warranty will find a lot to love. Like the Concealment Express, it’s very low profile. Everything is adjustable, and also with a Phillip’s screwdriver. The retention click is loud.

But Tulster kicks it up a notch in a few ways. First, they’ve opted to use Boltaron thermoplastic, the best material available. Tulster has chosen to remove excess material between the retention screw and muzzle, somewhat addressing the potential discomfort associated with lower-profile holsters.

They’ve also introduced some unique features. The trigger guard is undercut for a higher grip. This allows for fast magazine release when your Glock is holstered. The clips are also exchangeable for a larger clip to accommodate a wider belt. They can even be exchanged with soft loops.

Last but not least, more than ten color options are available. Now, this might seem frivolous. But this has utility beyond personalization. These are solid colors, not fancy prints. It might not have been Tulster’s intent but having color options allows for the holster to blend in with clothing. For example, the blue holster will potentially camouflage with denim. This is a unique choice, distinct from the all-black usual assortment.

Tulster Glock IWP Profile Holster
Our rating:4.4 out of 5 stars (4.4 / 5)

Pros
  • Great range of options
  • Easily adjustable
  • Low profile
  • Color options
Cons
  • No warranty

6 Galco KT224B Kingtuk Waistband Holster

It would appear that Galco strove to make a holster that just simply worked without need to worry about adjustments or too many features. However, that does not work in this holster’s favor.

If you’re looking for a holster and have no expectations beyond quality of make and a reasonable level of comfort, this holster might be worth considering. However, any discerning Glock owner will find far too much lacking.

For starters, nothing on this holster is adjustable. The cant rests at a permanent 15 degrees. Tension is fair, but again, not adjustable. If you find that, for whatever reason, the tension is too low or too high for your tastes, you’re out of luck. Bear in mind, the holster is also very large.

Galco also boasts that this holster is a blend of leather and Kydex, but the Kydex is only used for the holster pocket. It does use a more premium material where it matters most, at least, but the rest of the holster is just plain leather.

On this point, it’s worth noting that Galco has confusingly claimed that their holsters are made in America, but they also note that they are imported. This likely means the leather is imported, but it isn’t readily apparent. Shoppers who prefer to purchase American-made products might want to be wary here until they’ve clarified their manufacturing process.

Also, this holster is available only available in right-handed iterations. That’s quite an oversight, since nearly every other holster on the market with an image of a premium product has left-handed variations. (On this point, some websites might not have them available for purchase, but contacting the manufacturer can set you up with one.)

Finally, there is no warranty. Given its general lack of positive features compared to the competition, and primarily leather construction, this is a very disappointing decision.

Galco KT224B Kingtuk Waistband Holster
Our rating:4.3 out of 5 stars (4.3 / 5)

Pros
  • May appeal to minimalists
  • Traditional look
  • Kydex holster pocket
  • Good standard tension
Cons
  • No warranty
  • Mostly leather construction
  • No adjustable parts

7 Outbags USA Full Grain Heavy Leather Holster

For Glock owners seeking a simple holster without the extra frills, Outbags has a better solution than many on this list. It’s comparable in many ways to the aforementioned Galco holster in many ways (including notoriously not featuring a warranty of any kind), but does have a left-handed version, thankfully.

While it is 100% leather, it is hard-molded. Remember, the Galco model was entirely leather aside from the holster pocket. The hard mold does increase durability somewhat, although it still can’t compare to synthetic materials. A big problem with leather is that it’s very difficult to clean. Not having a warranty compounds this problem.

Not having adjustable parts is generally a negative. However, it has a much smaller profile than the Galco model, which will make it more comfortable for users who don’t find holsters to be uncomfortable. However, those who find their holsters always digging in will probably want to steer clear. This is because these smaller holsters tend to increase the pressure of the gun against the body. Other offerings on this list mitigate that with adjustable parts.

One positive, while strictly aesthetic, is that Outbags has produced a very handsome holster. They make a point of noting that no two holsters will look exactly alike. That’s because they are hand-dyed and handmade. There’s a very human level of craftsmanship obvious here. The stitching has a very classic, refined look to it. While nice, for something designed to be concealed, this is of dubious importance.

Frankly, more options would have been a superior focus to the classic craftsman appeal. But if that draws you in, this might be the holster for you. It performs well, has a low profile, should be comfortable for most users, and looks nice to boot. It’s just unfortunate they haven’t backed that classic, handmade-in-America image up with an actual warranty.

Outbags USA Full Grain Heavy Leather Holster
Our rating:4.3 out of 5 stars (4.3 / 5)

Pros
  • May appeal to minimalists
  • Excellent aesthetic design
  • Smaller profile than similar holsters
  • Hard-molded leather
Cons
  • No warranty
  • Leather construction looks nice, but isn’t as durable
  • No adjustable parts

8 Relentless Tactical The Defender Leather Holster

There are quite a few manufacturers on this list who seemingly endeavored to make something simple rather than adjustable. There isn’t necessarily anything wrong with that. Some Glock owners will prefer simplicity. Where most of their competition has faltered, Relentless Tactical has done a pretty good job balancing this idea.

First, here’s what it doesn’t have: No adjustable tension or cant. No audible securement click. No synthetic materials (they bill this as a positive, but that’s relative; a durable synthetic would be preferable).

If you can stomach a lack of adjustment options and the 100% leather construction, and the lack of an assuring click, this might be the holster for you. That’s because it makes up for these shortcomings with a few great bonuses.

First, there is a lifetime warranty. It’s good to see that, since most of the 100% leather options on our list don’t offer a warranty at all. This suggests that they’re confident in their construction lasting a long time. So, while it is still going to be difficult to clean, and will break down eventually, it’s backed by warranty.

Secondly, Relentless Tactical is a very popular brand. Why is this great? Well, they’ve earned a reputation for excellent customer service. They also manufacture holsters for just about any gun you can imagine. It can be a nice bonus to have a brand you can trust across the spectrum of your collection, especially when it means you’ll get excellent service.

Lastly, Relentless Tactical is the only brand besides Tulster on this list that includes color options. Tulster’s colors could be used for greater concealment. Here, the colors are limited and basically variations of brown. You probably won’t be camouflaging “charred oak” with your clothes. Still, it’s nice to have some options. In particular, they have a deep, reddish brown option that really compliments the handmade leather look.

Relentless Tactical The Defender Leather Holster
Our rating:4.8 out of 5 stars (4.8 / 5)

Pros
  • The best of the simpler holsters on our list
  • Only 100% leather holster on our list with a warranty
  • Color options
Cons
  • No adjustable parts
  • Leather construction will eventually wear down

Choosing The Best IWB Holster for Glock 19

Choosing The Best IWB Holster for Glock 19

Your preferences will dictate your decision

There’s a lot to consider when choosing between the entries on this list. Some Glock 19 owners are minimalists, who just want a solidly constructed holster that will work reasonably well without a fuss. Others will want to have mechanical parts they can tweak to their heart’s content. There’s a pretty big divide here, and not much in the middle. Be sure to consider what camp you fall into.

Do you need an audible click?

For some, the audible click of a secured Glock is reassuring. In fact, it might be a make or break deal. It’s certainly satisfying to hear, but it also lets you know that it’s doing its job. After all, a holster that isn’t reliably secure all the time is worthless. Having that click gives you extra peace of mind. It’s also easier to simply hear a click than fiddle with your handgun.

Unfortunately, only about half the holsters we reviewed have any click. If this matters to you, it will greatly narrow down your search.

Consider your past experiences with comfort

This is a huge factor, and unfortunately, it’s quite subjective. Have you typically found yourself adjusting your holster because it cuts into you, or the Glock pushes against your body? Do you find that you like to wear it with multiple placements? Are you upgrading specifically because your current holster isn’t comfortable?

This will be supremely important to the holster that you choose. Some holsters on this list don’t have any adjustments. Some are made of harder material than others. Some are very large, meaning there’s more distribution of pressure, mitigating the feeling of the gun cutting into you. On the other hand, a larger size can itself be uncomfortable for some users.

It’s important to take this into consideration, especially if you intend to wear your holster all the time. Obviously, most of us will. It’s no good to be uncomfortable day in and day out!

How important is durability?

Half the holsters on our list are made of leather, and half are made of synthetic materials. If you listen only to the manufacturers, they’ll tell you their chosen material is the best. Neither is necessarily wrong. Leather tends to be more comfortable, especially over time as it’s worn in. However, this same quality leads to wearing down. It also makes it notoriously difficult to clean. This might not matter to you. On the other hand, you might expect to keep your holster for life. It’s unlikely that will happen with a leather holster.

Synthetic materials get a bad rap compared to the appeal of genuine leather. However, synthetic materials are more durable, and also tend to break in over time without wearing down. They’re much easier to clean and resist the elements as well as the residue from your gun. It will typically take them much longer to become comfortable by being worn in, if ever. That’s why most of the synthetic materials are paired with adjustable parts, so you can find a fit that’s right for you.

Lastly, consider your climate, and whether leather may dry out.

How important is appearance?

It might seem silly, given that we’re talking about concealment. But these holsters all have different looks. Some have a very modern, rugged look. Others have a timeless leather aesthetic, even some made of synthetic materials. A couple even offer color options. It probably shouldn’t be the most important consideration, but if it matters to you, you’ll find distinct differences. And don’t forget, color can be another form of camouflage. However, black is always a good, discreet choice.

Don’t forget that warranty

Last but not least, while most of these brands have lifetime warranties, some don’t offer squat. That doesn’t indicate an inferior product. But you should be aware that a leather holster, for example, will probably wear down eventually. You know yourself best. If you’ve never broken a cell phone screen in your life, maybe you’ll be passing your next holster down to your children someday. But if you tend to get things dirty, break things, and push your possessions to their limits, you’ll want that warranty. Or, better yet, consider avoiding leather.

Conclusion

While you’ll need to consider your preferences, one holster is a more well-rounded, superior choice. That’s the Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.5.

The Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.5 wins out because of its customization options, superior comfort even without utilizing said options, lifetime warranty, and neoprene construction, and audible click so you know your Glock 19 is secure. They’ve included an adjustable retention shell to accommodate your preferences or be removed altogether.

It’s also a good balance all-around. It has a low profile, for example, but isn’t so small that it doesn’t evenly distribute pressure.

Lastly, the “Alien Skin” coating is no gimmick, providing a very nice grip. That attention to detail suggests real pride.
